§ 2-201. Name, membership, purpose.

  • (a)

    The commission shall be composed of seven commissioners; residents of the county, who shall be appointed by the majority vote of the county council, duly assembled. Six members being appointed for each of the six council districts, and one member appointed at-large. Each commissioner shall serve a four-year term, or until a successor in office is duly appointed. Provided however, that for the initial appointment following the effective date of this section, districts 1 and 2 will serve a two-year term, districts 3 and 4, will serve a three-year term, districts 5 and 6 will serve a four-year term, and at large will serve a two-year term.

    (b)

    As the need occurs, the county council shall appoint commissioners in accordance with its established policy for appointments to boards and commissions.
